The yaoi hentai genre has grown to immense popularity in recent years. In the doujin download world, though, it is still primarily dominated by manga and digital comics. This is true for hentai in general actually, but it is so large that there are plenty of other mediums represented, including fully animated videos, CG collections and games. In the world of Yaoi, though, hentai games seems to be an underrepresented category. They do exist, but nowhere near to the extent seen in general hentai artwork. That vast majority of yaoi hentai art out on the internet is fan generated. Many fans of mainstream shows create yaoi pics of their favorite characters and upload them freely for all to see. Some do this in galleries on their own site, and others upload their art to content aggregators. There are also a number of websites, both free and paysites, which are devoted to yaoi artowrk and contain fairly large galleries. Naruto, the super popular, ninja, action manga that has been topping charts worldwide, is a prime target for doujin circles wanting to take the property into the world of yaoi hentai. The show has an immense cast and many so-called “bishounen” male characters for doujin creators to play with. The show also sets up relationships that seem to be asking for it. Very early in the manga series, when Naruto, the title character, is introduced to his greatest rival, Sasuke, they are staring each other down when someone bumps naruto from behind, pushing them into a lip lock. It didn’t take long for major publishers, like TOKYOPOP in America, to jump on the worldwide popularity of yaoi hentai. While these large outfits are publishing yaoi manga in print, and many doujin circles are selling on Japanese content sites, there is still a considerable ammount of Yaoi artwork available free. This not necessarily in speaking of scanlations of professional manga being distributed, in violation of copyright, on the internet. The world of doujin artwork has many sub-genres within it. Aside from the mainstream fan fiction, done as doujinshi, usually for all ages, there’s the hardcore sexual material, tentacles, futanari and yuri. One of the fastest growing sub-genres in the doujin world, though, has been yaoi hentai. Many doujin download sites and even manga publishers have now devoted special sections of their site, or even created entirely separate sites, for their yaoi artwork. It has become that big. The Yaoi hentai genre is one that is dominated by manga. Although one may find other media on Japanese doujin download sites, it will quickly become clear that manga is the most widely produced? and enjoys the greatest sales in the doujin world. Part of the reason for this is because of what sequential art, or comics, offers to creators of Yaoi hentai, as opposed to CG collections or single images. Bleach, the long running, supernatural, action manga and anime, has always been a fan favorite among Yaoi hentai doujin circles. The show has an extremely large cast featuring 13 protection squads, in a world called Soul Society, with each squad having a captain and vice-captain as recurring characters. Some squads even have 2nd and 3rd Lieutenants which appear often in the show. There are far more male characters than female and many of the males fit the “bishounen” character type perfectly. Similar to any doujin circle, yaoi creators took male characters from their favorite mainstream manga and anime and placed them in hardcore sexual situations. Even though the movement is big enough today that professional artists are getting in on the action, in its early beginnings, it was all fan art. At first glance, many who view Yaoi hentai artwork immediately associated it with gay males. Although that is precisely what the hardcore images depict, the assumption would be entirely incorrect. Research in Japan, including surveys, have shown that Yaoi artwork is, in fact, created primarily by heterosexual women and the same consumes it as an audience. That same research went on to show that many gay males, in Japan, do not view or have little interest in Yaoi hentai, as they say it is a fantasy and does not in anyway relate to them or the issues they face. Many years ago a movement began in the doujin world. That movement is, today, seen as yaoi hentai. Yaoi is a Japanese style acronym which means “yama nashi, ochi nashi, imi nashi” and translates as “no peak, no point, no meaning”. The doujinshi, and resulting flurry of hardcore pics and CG collections, that started the trend were termed such because they were just about sex and nothing else. In this case, the sex was between two popular male characters from mainstream anime and manga. Yaoi hentai quickly grew into something of a phenomenom in a very short time.
